The beet campaign usually runs from September to early January. The exact start and end dates vary from year to year, depending on factors such as the growing season and harvest conditions of the sugar beets.

Where do your sugar beets come from?
Our sugar beets are grown locally, mainly in Belgium. We work closely with Belgian farmers for sustainable, transparent, and high-quality cultivation.
-
What are those scents that you sometimes notice in and around Tienen during the beet campaign?
During the beet campaign, you may notice a typical, earthy scent in the vicinity of the factory. This scent is associated with the natural processing of the sugar beets. For some, it is a recognisable sign that the campaign is in full swing – a seasonal moment that has been part of the local landscape for generations.
Sometimes, an odour can also arise from the settling ponds, where organic material from the beets settles naturally. We do everything we can to prevent odour nuisance. If you do notice a nuisance odour, you can report it via the contact form.
-
Can I apply for sponsorship?
You can certainly send us a request, but we want to be honest right away: our sponsorship budget is very limited and we receive a large number of requests every day. As a result, we can unfortunately only accept a proposal in exceptional cases. We therefore ask you to only submit a request if you think your initiative really fits our values and brand. You can do this via the contact form.
-
Why is there no expiration date on the packaging?
For solid sugars (such as granulated sugar, hard cubes, pearl sugar, etc.), an expiration date is not legally required. Sugar does not expire. Only products with added ingredients, such as jam sugars (pectin), Ti Pleasure (sucralose) and candy syrups, are given an expiration date. The quality of these products can change over time.
-
Is your sugar vegan? Are there any animal products added to your sugar?
Yes, our sugar is completely vegan. Our sugars are 100% natural and do not contain any animal ingredients.
-
Are your products gluten free?
Yes, our sugar is naturally gluten free and does not contain traces of gluten.
-
Are glossy decorating sugar, mini pearl sugar and espresso cubes still available?
These products are no longer part of our range. Would you like to know more about our product range? Then visit www.tiensesuiker.com or www.candico.be
-
What is the difference between granulated sugar, pearl sugar and icing sugar?
Crystal sugar is the standard white sugar. In our range you will find Fine Beet Sugar and Very Fine Beet Sugar. Pearl sugar consists of larger, hard grains and is mainly used in, for example, Liège waffles. Icing sugar (also known as powdered sugar) is finely ground sugar, perfect for sprinkling or using in icing and toppings.
-
Can I buy your products online?
Tiense Suiker does not sell directly to consumers. Our products are available with retailers.
-
Are your packaging recyclable?
Yes, most of our packaging is recyclable. Please refer to the sorting instructions on the packaging or on our website.
