About Hiring & Development

Koen Prosmans, Head of Hiring & Development

When did your adventure within Raffinerie Tirlemontoise start?

I first started with Raffinerie Tirlemontoise on 2nd April 2012 as Training & Competence Manager. Following an alteration to the HR Department, in September of that same year I was made responsible for the Hiring & Development Service.

What does your working day look like?

My working day starts the night before. As our team organises a great many different activities, we check the latest methods with the suppliers, our internal contact people and the staff involved. Effective communication and good coordination are essential here. When I arrive in the office in the morning, the first thing I do is deal with any urgent emails, before starting my meetings. I generally have several meetings a day: they range from monitoring projects to choosing suppliers and keeping contact with schools or VDAB (the Flemish Employment and Professional Training Office), through to processing development plans or preparing new employees. Regular consultation within the team is also essential.

I take time out at lunch to eat with colleagues. Where possible, I try to do some form of sport once a week during my lunchbreak. The afternoon is generally dedicated to appointments. I try to leave myself at least an hour a day for operative tasks, searching for answers to questions or making a few calls.

How would you describe the atmosphere at Raffinerie Tirlemontoise?

I consider the Refinery as a large family. I think that says it all, don't you.

What do you think of your job and life at Raffinerie Tirlemontoise?

I have an enjoyable job with numerous challenges and fantastic colleagues. This enables us to achieve great things together.
