Quality control

First-rate quality control

Since 1836 quality has been a major priority for the Raffinerie Tirlemontoise, from the beet to the finished product. This is why we work with a highly principled quality control system that is based on three pillars:

  • The application of good practices in the field of hygiene and production.
  • The application of the HACCP-norms to guarantee the food safety of all our products.
  • Integral quality assurance where continual improvements are central.

Our goal?

  • To guarantee the very best quality of our products, each and every day.
  • To be constantly on the lookout for new ways to make our products even better.

Twofold approach

Two elements are central to our quality control:

1. Dynamic quality assurance department

This department’s most important task? The promotion of quality within the Raffinerie Tirlemontoise. But also:

  • Following up legislation (including food safety) and overseeing a rapid application of new norms;
  • Making sure production workers  are aware of the importance of hygiene, good production practices and training;
  • Controlling product specifications and providing follow up to clients’ questions;
  • Improving customer service and being quick to anticipate new needs;
  • Assessing the effectiveness of continual audits;
  • Providing follow up to  customer complaints in collaboration with the departments implicated

2. Thorough technological knowledge of sugar production

Our experienced technologists enjoy international recognition and carry out numerous controls on the production premises. In addition, two achievement-oriented departments carry out checks and make improvements throughout the production process:

  • The laboratory for sugar technology: is responsible for the technological aspects of production, from beet to sugar. Together with the various production departments this lab optimises the current techniques and develops new technologies.  Constant supervision of all the critical parameters of the production process is part of the range of duties.
  • The analysis laboratory: specialised in pure research and analyses of a diverse nature.
